Austrians donate 630 mln euros in 2017: report

VIENNA, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Austrians are expected to donate about 630 million euros (746 million U.S. dollars) in 2017, according to a report from the Fundraising Verband Austria (FVA) on Wednesday.

The FVA said the record 640 million euros (758 million U.S. dollars) donated in 2016 will not quite be matched, but the total is positive nonetheless, and is still higher than pre-2016 years.

About 62 percent of all Austrians make some sort of donations, with child, animal, and catastrophe-related causes the most popular. The average spent by these people is 113 euros (134 U.S. dollars).

The top three organizations donated to are the Austrian Red Cross, Catholic charity Caritas, and children's charity, SOS Kinderdorf.
