Inner Mongolia confirmed as host of 2018 UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup

HOHHOT, China, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Hohhot, the captial of northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, has been confirmed by the International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation (UIAA) as host of an international ice climbing competition early next year, local sports officials said on Wednesday.

The venue for the Chinese leg of the 2018 UIAA Ice Climbing World Cup from February 2 to 4 is located in Tumed Left Banner (the Inner Mongolian equivalent of a county) in the western part of Hohhot City, according to the local sports bureau.

Construction of the venue is underway.

Next year, the Chinese Mountaineering Association will arrange for a free shuttle service for athletes between the city's airport and the competition venue.

The 2018 UIAA Ice Climbing World Tour will be held in Switzerland, Italy, South Korea, Russia and China from January to March next year, according to a schedule released by the UIAA. Enditem
