JERUSALEM -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu left for Kenya on Tuesday for a whirlwind visit, which includes meetings with African leaders and an announcement of a new Israeli embassy in Africa, his office said.

Netanyahu said the aim of his one-day trip is "to deepen ties with Africa also by forging links with countries that we do not have diplomatic relations with." (Israel-Africa)

ANKARA -- Turkish airstrikes destroyed 41 targets linked to the Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) in northern Iraq, the General Staff said in a statement on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the airstrikes were launched late Monday in northern Iraq's Asos region near the mountainous border with Turkey, destroying 41 targets, including shelters, hideouts and tunnels used by the illegal group. (Turkey-PKK)

CAIRO -- At least 14 terrorists were killed and 14 other suspects were arrested in Egyptian police and military raids inside and near North Sinai province, official security statements said on Tuesday.

A statement from the Interior Ministry on Tuesday said that a raid on a farm in Ismailia province northeastern the capital Cairo and western North Sinai province killed 11 terrorists who exchanged fire with the police during the raid. (Egypt-Raids)

DUBAI -- The Saudi oil minister said here on Tuesday that his country is open for talks to extend the oil production cut pact of Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

"We have to go through the research and studies together later this week in Vienna and discuss the issue," Khalid Al-Falih, the minister of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources of Saudi Arabia, said to reporters on the sidelines of the ongoing annual Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association forum.
