NAIROBI, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Thika United FC midfielder Said Tsuma was on Tuesday called up to the Kenyan national team Harambee Stars provisional squad ahead of the 2017 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup, a regional tourney.

The midfielder replaces Gor Mahia FC's Kenneth Muguna who has been ruled out due to injury, becoming the second player from the local Premier League champions to miss the regional showpiece after defender Harun Shakava.

Stars, under the tutelage of new coach Paul Put, reported camp on Sunday and will take on past Cecafa champions, Rwanda in their Group A opener on Sunday.

The regional assignment will be the first since Belgian Put was appointed Stars coach by Kenya Football Federation.

Stars will be out to win the 2017 CECAFA that returns after a two-year hiatus for the first time since 2013 when another Belgian, Adel Amrouche was in charge of the side. Enditem
