Guizhou plans ambitious electric vehicle charging network by 2020

Xinhua,September 26, 2017 Adjust font size:

Mountainous Guizhou Province, one of the country's poorest regions, aims to catch up with richer areas in energy conservation by building an extensive charging network for electric vehicles in urban areas.

A five-year plan on reducing emissions, drafted by the provincial government, said that by 2020, there should be one charging point within a 5-km radius in county-level cities or higher.

The government said it will issue better policies to encourage the use of new energy vehicles and promote shared transportation to build a low-carbon transport sector.

China has been aggressively promoting the use of electric vehicles and building a nationwide charging station network to fulfill the power demands of 5 million electric vehicles by 2020.

In Beijing and Shanghai, charging facilities can be found within a radius of less than 5 km.
