French shares drop 0.53 pct on Thursday

French shares lost on Thursday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 down 0.53 percent, or 28.16 points, to close at 5,289.73 points.

Twenty five of the 40 selected large companies lost in the day.

French multinational food-products corporation Danone tumbled 2.80 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. French retail giant Carrefour was down 2.13 percent. France industrial group Bouygues lost 1.93 percent.

Safran, French multinational aircraft engine, rocket engine, aerospace-component, defense, and security company, rose 1.30 percent, the top gainer of the day.

Saint-Gobain SA, a building and high-performance material company, gained 1.01 percent. Credit Agricole, a French network of cooperative and mutual banks, was up 0.89 percent. Endit
