Xinhua, May 18, 2017 Adjust font size:

The Klyuchevskoy volcano on Russia's Far Eastern Kamchatka Peninsula erupted on Thursday morning and spewed ashes 6,000 meters into the air, the local emergency service said Thursday.

The service said the aviation color code has been raised to orange, and tours to the area have been canceled. The ashes reached human settlements in the area.

With a height of 4,750 meters, the 7,000-year-old Klyuchevskoy volcano is the tallest active volcano in Eurasia. Its last eruption was in 2013. Endi
