Russia to deliver Ebola vaccines to Guinea by end of June: Health Ministry

Russia will provide Guinea with over 1,000 doses of the vaccine against the Ebola virus within one month and half, Russian Health Ministry said Wednesday.

"Gamaleya Center of Epidemiology and Microbiology, the developer of the Russian vaccine against the Ebola virus, has produced the full amount of the vaccine, which will be handed over to the Republic of Guinea as assistance in prevention of outbreaks of Ebola hemorrhagic fever," the ministry's press service said in a statement.

Agreements on the delivery of the vaccine (named Gam-Evak-Kombi) were previously reached by the Russian and Guinean sides, according to the center.

Simultaneously with the introduction of the vaccine in Guinea, Russian and Guinean scientists will begin to analyze the progress of the vaccine's use, the document added.

The Gam-Evac Combi vaccine is the world' s first officially authorized and approved for clinical use vaccine against diseases caused by the Ebola virus, and it surpasses existing foreign analogues in a range of parameters, the press service said. Endit
