A refugee was sentenced to 11 years in prison by a German court on Tuesday for sexually assaulting two female Chinese students last year, local media reported.

The defendant was arrested by police last December after having been identified by one victim's friend and recorded by camera, the DPA news agency reported.

The 32-year-old defendant came to Germany as an asylum seeker at the end of 2015 with his wife and children.

He confessed his sexual assaults on two Chinese students in the western city of Bochum last August and November, the report said.

Following his arrest last December, Chinese Consulate General in Dusseldorf had issued a statement and urged lawful and just investigation and trial from German authorities. Endit
