1st LD: 2 killed in small private jet crash in residential area in New Jersey

A small private jet crashed Monday afternoon in a residential area in Carlstadt, New Jersey, leaving at least two dead and multiple buildings on fire.

The plane was a Learjet 35 that crashed on approach to Runway 1 at the Teterboro Airport around 3:30 p.m., an FAA spokesperson said. This type of plane can hold up to eight passengers.

Carlstadt police said two people were killed in the crash and local emergency crews are responding to the scene.

Video from the scene showed plumes of dark, thick smoke billowing from the site of the crash. Endit
