Lebanese PM calls on Arab banks to participate in regional reconstruction

Xinhua, May 12, 2017 Adjust font size:

Lebanon's Prime Minister Saad Hariri said Friday that reconstruction in the Arab world requires more openness and cooperation between all Arab banking sectors.

During a speech he delivered at the forum in Biel entitled "Financing Reconstruction -- In the Aftermath of the Arab Transformations," Hariri said that Arab countries are witnessing crisis and challenges such as internal wars, foreign interference, militias, occupation, guardianship, destruction, displacement and all kinds of atrocities.

He called on Arab banks "to fix a road map for the Arab reconstruction processes, and for your participation in financing them."

Mentioning the "fundamental and pivotal" role of the Arab banking sector, Hariri stressed "the reconstruction requires us to join the global trend of activating partnership between public and private sectors, particularly during the process of developing infrastructure as the pillar of any economic growth."
