Bahrain holds hearing for first terror case involving civilians

A Bahrain's Military Court on Wednesday held a hearing for a case involving terrorism against a military personnel and two civilians, according to a statement posted on Bahrain News Agency.

This is the first case where civilians were accused of involving attacks on the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) considered by the Military Court since the application of the constitutional amendment to the 2002 Military Courts Law.

"The Military Court for the first time considered a case (post the amendment) against three individuals, a military personnel and two civilians, accused of committing terror crimes of planning to target military installations and BDF personnel," said the statement.

Parliament in April passed the amendment which was later ratified by King Hamad that allowed prosecutors to refer cases involving terrorism to military courts. Endit
