15 militants killed in Afghanistan

A total of 15 armed insurgents have been killed and 20 others injured during operations that started in Adraskan district of western Afghanistan's Herat province, 640 km west of Kabul on Monday, provincial government spokesman Jilani Farhad said Wednesday.

A Taliban senior commander Mawlawi Hamid is also among those killed during the operations, the official asserted.

Taliban militants who are active in parts of Herat province are yet to make comment on the situation there.

Militants loyal to the Taliban outfit has intensified activities since launching their so-called spring offensive on April 28. Enditem
