Tokyo stocks advance in morning

Tokyo stocks advanced Wednesday morning as a comparatively weak yen versus the U.S. dollar saw exporter issues buoyed with hopes high for more robust earnings reports this week.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 60.06 points, or 0.30 percent, from Tuesday to 19,903.06.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 3.57 points, or 0.23 percent, to 1,585.34.

Iron and steel, nonferrous metal and machinery-linked issues comprised those that rose the most by the morning break. Endit
