"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" tops Chinese box office

Disney and Marvel's "Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2" rocketed to top spot in China with box office sales of 317 million yuan (45.9 million U.S. dollars) in the week ending May 7.

Hong Kong crime movie "Shock Wave" landed in second place for the week, taking in 161 million yuan.

Universal's "The Fate of the Furious" took third place, earning 125 million yuan. The eighth installment in "The Fast and the Furious" franchise has grossed more than 2.6 billion yuan since its release on April 14.

In fourth place was domestic suspense film "Battle of Memories," generating 108 million yuan.

Rounding out the top five was Indian comedy "Dangal," which grossed 77 million yuan. Endi
