Turkish Airlines starts offering laptops on U.S.-bound flights after ban

Xinhua, May 6, 2017 Adjust font size:

Turkish Airlines on Saturday began offering laptops to its business-class passengers flying to the United States after a ban on large-sized electronic devices in cabin from certain countries.

The in-flight laptops have a touch screen and a built-in security system to protect user privacy. All records will be automatically deleted when the computer is turned off, the company said in a written statement.

The airlines will also offer the same service to business-class passengers bound for Britain, which also issued the ban, from May 12.

Washington has barred all electronic devices larger than a mobile phone on direct flights to the United States from 10 airports in eight Muslim-majority countries, including Istanbul's Ataturk International Airport.

Britain later issued a similar ban on all flights from airports in Turkey, Lebanon, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Tunisia. Endit
