SEOUL -- Over a quarter of the South Korean voters cast ballots in early voting for the presidential election set to be held next week, the election commission said Friday.
During the two-day early voting period, 11,072,310 voters cast ballots ahead of the official presidential election day on May 9, according to the National Election Commission.

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan army said on Friday that border with Afghanistan in Chaman area has been closed after three Pakistanis were killed by "unprovoked" firing from the Afghan side, while 18 others were injured.
The army spokesman said the Afghan Border Police "opened fire" on the Pakistani border forces Frontier Corps (FC) in charge of security of a population census team in southwestern Balochistan Province.(Pakistan-Afghanistan-Firing)

NEW DELHI -- At least 14 people were killed and 28 others injured, some of them critically, on Friday after a mini-truck carrying them fell into a canal in northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, police said.
The accident took place near Saray Neem area in Etah district, 265 km west of Lucknow city, the capital of Uttar Pradesh.
