Indonesian basketball team eyes SEABA champions again

Indonesia eyes the champions again in the Southeast Asia Basketball (SEABA) tournament in Quezon, the Philippines, from May 12 to 18.

Coach Wahyu Hidayat said Thursday that the Indonesian team will vie with other teams from the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Myanmar.

Previously, Hidayat said that Indonesia set a target of among top two in the SEABA tournament.

Before departing to the Philippines, the Indonesian national team would have a special exercise in Batam Island from May 8-9, he added.

The champion of the SEABA tournament will have a right to vie in the international basketball federation (FIBA) tournament in Lebanon from August 10-20, according to the Indonesian Basketball Association.

Indonesia, one of the powerhouses in Southeast Asia, had won the gold medal at the 1996 SEABA. Endit
