Speaker of the Moroccan House of Advisors, Hakim Benchemas, said Morocco aims to cement friendship ties with China, according to a statement from Morocco's parliament on Wednesday.

The Morocco-China friendship is based on the long-standing respect, Benchamass said following talks with Chinese Ambassador to Morocco Sun Shuzhong in Rabat.

Benchamass said Moroccan King Mohammed VI's visit to China in May 2016 opened promising perspectives to developing bilateral relations.

During the visit, Chinese President Xi Jinping and King Mohammed VI of Morocco signed a joint statement on establishing strategic partnership between the two countries.

Benchamass vowed Morocco's willingness to further diversify bilateral ties, especially in the political, strategic and economic fields. Enditem
