1st LD: Scores trapped in coal mine collapse in northern Iran

Scores of miners were trapped in a coal mine explosion in the northern Iranian province of Golestan on Wednesday, local media reported.

In the accident which took place in Khosh Yeylaq region of Golestan at 12:05 local time (0735 GMT), 12 miners were injured and over 70 others were trapped, according to semi-official Fars news agency.

The mine had two parts, in one part 40 miners and in the other part over 30 miners have been trapped, Iran's Emergency Chief, Pir Hossein Kolivand, told Fars. Endit
