UAE launches council to boost soft power strategy

Xinhua, April 29, 2017 Adjust font size:

Dubai launched a United Arab Emirates (UAE) soft power council on Saturday to find a "comprehensive strategy" to reinforce the Gulf state's position in the world, UAE state news agency WAM reported.

The council will report directly to the UAE cabinet and will introduce an integrated national strategy that consolidates the roles of both the public and private sectors in achieving soft power.

It will also develop a soft power strategy regarding science, culture, technology, humanitarian and economic sectors in order to establish relationships with UAE partners both in the Arab region and globally.

Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, the vice president, prime minister and ruler of Dubai, stressed his vision of making the UAE a global example of "prestige and excellence."

"The UAE holds a special place in the hearts of millions of people around the world," said the UAE leader.

Mohammed Abdullah Al-Gergawi, minister of Cabinet Affairs, was named the chairman of the council. Endit
