At least five people were killed and ten others wounded Friday evening in a bomb attack in the downtown Karada district of Baghdad, according to local police.

A local police source told Xinhua that a car bomb exploded in a parking area of the Karada Bureau of Traffic Administration, killing at least five people, with another 10 injured. Several cars in the area were destroyed and buildings around the area were damaged. (Iraq-Bomb Attack)

BOGOTA -- The death toll from a construction project that collapsed on Thursday in the northern Colombian city of Cartagena has climbed to 10, while four people remain missing, local authorities said on Friday.

Another 21 people, mainly laborers, were injured in the incident, which has shone the spotlight on unscrupulous developers who flout building regulations. (Colombia-Building Collapse )

MANILA -- A 7.1-magnitude earthquake hit off the coast of the island of Mindanao in Southern Philippines on Saturday morning, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said.

The quake struck offshore near Glan town in Sarangani province at a depth of 10 km around 4:23 a.m. local time (2123 GMT Friday), 68 kms south of the city of General Santos,the USGS said. (Philippines-Earthquake)

MEXICO CITY -- At least one person was killed and three others were injured in a shootout on Friday morning in the heart of Mexico City's downtown area, local media reported.

The incident was the result of a botched robbery, the city's Attorney General's Office (PGJDF) said in a Twitter post, adding that police "have arrested two men suspected in the robbery of a business." (Mexico-Shootout)

SEOUL -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on Saturday test-fired a ballistic missile, which exploded after liftoff, according to South Korea's Yonhap news agency.

The ballistic missile was fired from a site near Bukchang in South Pyeongan Province in the northeastern direction at about 5:30 a.m local time (2030 GMT Friday), but it was estimated to have failed as it exploded shortly after liftoff, the news agency quoted the Joint Chiefs of Staff as saying.
