Xinhua, April 28, 2017 Adjust font size:

Lithuania is a reliable friend and ally of the United States, and America remains firmly engaged with NATO and cooperation with Lithuania in defense, U.S. President Donald Trump has said.

Transatlantic relations remain vitally important, Trump said in his letter to Lithuania's President Dalia Grybauskaite, according to a statement released Friday by the Lithuanian presidency.

Trump said he highly valued Lithuania's commitment to allocate 2 percent of GDP for defense funding as of 2018.

Trump also praised Lithuania for its input into security operation in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to the statement. Endit
