Liu Cigui elected Party chief of China's island province of Hainan

Liu Cigui on Friday was elected secretary of Hainan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

Liu was elected to the post at the first plenary meeting of the seventh CPC Hainan Provincial Committee.

Born in 1955, Liu is a native of Quanzhou in east China's Fujian Province.

He served as head of the State Oceanic Administration before being transferred to Hainan in December 2014 as deputy secretary of CPC Hainan Provincial Committee. Endi
