SYDNEY, April 28 (Xinhua) - - Australian football' s A-League semifinals get underway this weekend, with four teams vying for a place in next week's Grand Final.
To kick off the action on Saturday, the competition' s minor premiers Sydney FC play host to the Perth Glory, who are coming off an emphatic 2-0 win over Melbourne City in the quarterfinals.
Despite the Glory's excellent performance last week, FC will be feeling more than confident as the Sydneysiders have beaten Perth in their last four encounters, scoring 15 goals and conceding just 2.
However, as the saying goes, football is a funny game and complacency can often lead to an upset, but with Sydney'ss sky blue fans out in force, FC will be red-hot favourites going into the match.
On Sunday, the Brisbane Roar will make their way south to face the Melbourne Victory in a game that promises to be a very exciting contest.
In their last six encounters, the sides were about evenly matched, and with the Victory's week off and the Roar's closely fought win on penalties against the Western Sydney Wanderers in the quarterfinals, it's hard to tell who has the momentum going into the game.
Melbourne's Besart Berisha and Brisbane's Jamie Maclaren have been the league's highest goal scorers this season, and the two sides have attempted more shots than any other team this year, with Melbourne Victory hitting 396 and the Brisbane Roar knocking 402.
The home crowd advantage will boost the Victory, but with so much firepower on both sides, fans are almost certainly in for an incredible match. Enditem
