Militants attacked a military camp in restive Indian-controlled Kashmir on Thursday, police said.

The attack was carried out in Panzgam village of frontier Kupwara district, close to Line of Control (LoC) dividing Kashmir, about 106 km northwest of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir.

"Militants this morning attacked a army camp in Kupwara here," a local police official told Xinhua. "We are being told militants trying to enter the camp."

Heavy gunfire was going on between the two sides and some casualties were feared, police said. Endit
