President Trump orders probe into possible federal gov't's unlawful oversight on education

Xinhua, April 27, 2017 Adjust font size:

U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday ordered probe into whether the federal government had overstepped the line in controlling the country's education system.

Trump signed an executive order titled Enforcing Statutory Prohibition On Federal Control of Education, which directed the Department of Education to review "all Department of Education regulations" and examine whether these regulations comply with federal laws.

It is the policy of the executive branch "to protect and preserve state and local control over the curriculum, program of instruction, administration, and personnel of educational institutions, schools and school systems," the document said.

The secretary of education shall rescind or revise any unlawful supervision conducted by the federal government within 300 days of the issuing of the executive order. Endit
