Part of the elements of the U.S. Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile defense system has been deployed in southeastern South Korea, Seoul's defense ministry said Wednesday.
Without elaborating, the ministry said in a statement that part of the THAAD battery was installed in the site in a bid to secure an initial operational capability without any separate construction of facilities. (South Korea-THAAD)

PYONGYANG -- Kim Jong Un, the top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), supervised the largest ever combined firing drill by the Korean People's Army (KPA) marking its 85th founding anniversary on Tuesday, said official media Wednesday.

PARIS/BRUSSELS -- Ten people have been arrested between Monday and Wednesday in France and Belgium in suspicious linkage to the terror attacks on Charlie Hebdo and a Kosher supermarket in 2015 in Paris, media reported Wednesday.

JALALABAD, Afghanistan -- At least 28 Islamic State (IS) militants were killed during a ground offensive and ensuing airstrikes in Afghanistan's eastern province of Nangarhar since early Tuesday, the provincial government said Wednesday.
