-- Impala Platinum Holdings said on Tuesday protests at its Marula mine in northeast South Africa and low metal prices had led the world's second-largest producer of the metal to start a reorganization process that may lead to "large-scale" job losses.

"This is something the business and economy can ill afford, but remains imperative if we are to protect the financial viability of our business and preserve jobs as far as possible," Chief Executive Officer Gerhard Potgieter said in a statement on Wednesday. The company didn't say how many jobs may be impacted. (Fin24)

-- South Africa Airways (SAA) has assured its passengers that it has put in place measures to counter possible disruptions to its flights on Wednesday morning amid a strike notice.

South African Cabin Crew Association (SACCA) which represents 77 percent of cabin crew members served the airline with a strike notice, demanding meal allowances during international trips. (South African Broadcasting Corporation)

-- African National Congress (ANC) Secretary General Gwede Mantashe has denied that he and Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa apologized for speaking out against President Jacob Zuma's cabinet reshuffle in which Pravin Gordan and his deputy Mcebisi Jonas were fired.
