TOKYO -- Japan's disaster reconstruction minister Masahiro Imamura resigned Wednesday after remarking that it was a "good thing" that the earthquake and tsunami disaster in March 2011 struck Japan's northeast rather that the Tokyo metropolitan area.

SEOUL -- South Korea's defense ministry on Wednesday confirmed local media reports that part of the elements of the U.S. Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile defense system were deployed to a site in southeast South Korea.
The ministry said in a statement that South Korea and the United States have made efforts to rapidly secure an operational capability of the THAAD system in preparation for what it called the nuclear and missile threats from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).(S.Korea-THAAD-Deployment)

YANGON -- The three-day political dialogue at national level has ended in Taunggyi, Myanmar's southern Shan state, and the outcome of the region-wise dialogue will be submitted to the upcoming Second Meeting of the country's 21st Century Panglong Peace Conference, scheduled for May 24, official report said Wednesday.
