Austrian authorities arrest two suspects following terror raids

Xinhua, April 25, 2017 Adjust font size:

Austrian authorities arrested two suspects following anti-terror raids in the national capital Vienna on Monday afternoon, local media reported on Tuesday.

Dozens of Agents under instruction from the public prosecutor's office accompanied by dozens of "Cobra" special forces personnel stormed five properties including apartments and a restaurant, before arresting the two men, the Krone said.

The two Syrian nationals, aged 48 and 36, are under suspicion of membership of a terrorist organization. The report stated a connection to the Islamic State (IS) is presently considered likely.

It is believed however that there was no imminent threat of a terror attack by the duo in Austria. Endit
