Chinese stocks closed higher Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.16 percent at 3,134.57 points.
The smaller Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.73 percent higher at 10,165.22 points. The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, ended 0.5 percent higher to close at 1,818.87 points.

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Tuesday as investor sentiment was bolstered by rallies on U.S. and European bourses.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 203.45 points, or 1.08 percent, from Monday to close the day at 19,079.33.
The turnover on the second trading day of the week totaled 2,301 billion yen (20.87 billion U.S. dollars).

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed up 316.46 points, or 1.31 percent, to 24,455.94 points on Tuesday.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 24,201.91 and 24,455.94. Turnover totaled 76.94 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 9.83 billion U.S. dollars).

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks finished higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 19.9 points, or 0.63 percent, to close at 3,163.93.
A total of 2.71 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1.22 billion Singapore dollars (872.78 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered decliners 272 to 198.

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Tuesday moved down 2.39 points, or 0.15 percent to close at 1,562.27 points.
Some 9.23 billion shares worth 46.30 billion baht (about 1.35 billion U.S. dollars) changed hands.

MUMBAI -- Indian market closed higher Tuesday. Equity benchmarks as well as broader markets continued to hold morning gains ahead of expiry of April futures & options contracts due Thursday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,765.80 up 9.75 points or 0.56 percent, and the Emas was at 12,578.21 up 87.63 points or 0.70 percent.
Turnover increased to 3.66 billion shares valued at 3.11 billion ringgit Malaysia(708.42 million U.S. dollars), compared with 3.12 billion shares valued at 2.65 billion ringgit Malaysia(602.41 million U.S. dollars) on Friday.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 87.86 points on Tuesday, down 0.56 points, or 0.63 percent, against the previous closing session.
A total of over 56.996 million shares worth some 582.669 billion Vietnamese dong (some 25.78 million U.S. dollars) were traded at the Hanoi Stock Exchange on Tuesday, an increase of 22.5 percent in volume and 22.31 percent in value against the previous closing session.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in southern Vietnam, closed at 707.58 points on Tuesday, down 1.81 points, or 0.26 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session.
About 137.231 million shares worth 3.237 trillion Vietnamese dong (144.89 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange.
VN30-Index, the new benchmark index for the southern bourse, which tracks the 30 leading stocks by both market capitalization and liquidity, closed at 668.58 points, up 1.5 points, or 0.22 percent.
