Urgent: Official results confirm Macron, Le Pen qualified for French election runoff

Centrist candidate Emmanuel Macron and far-right candidate Marine Le Pen won the first round of French presidential election and will face off in a runoff vote on May 7, official results shown early Monday.

Macron won 23.75 percent of votes, and Le Pen 21.53 percent, according to the results.

The other two major candidates, conservative Francois Fillon, ended up in the third place with 19.91 percent, while far-leftist Jean-Luc Melenchon in the fourth with 19.64 percent. Endi
