Ugandan president says Industrialization, electrification key to protecting land resources

Xinhua, April 23, 2017 Adjust font size:

Industrialization and electrification are key to protecting land resources of the African continent, according to Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni.

The president was speaking at the 6th edition of the Tana High-Level Forum on Security in Africa. The two-day event started on Saturday in Bahir Dar city, Ethiopia.

Museveni stressed the need to educate people together with developing the infrastructure.

"In Uganda we've identified 10 strategic bottlenecks ranging from market integration to electricity to tap our resources like oil fields," said Museveni.

He said that if a country doesn't develop it will either be unable to exploit its resources or be at the mercy of "unscrupulous" multinational firms.

Museveni urged Africans to take initiatives based on their own particular conditions and to look inside for solutions to their own problems. Enditem
