China swept four titles on offer on the first day of the FINA Synchronized Swimming World Series 2017 here on Saturday.

Performing to Beijing Opera, the Chinese team won the team free routine with 91.2000 points, beating Malaysia to a distant second (68.6667).

China's second gold of the day came from Sun Wenyan and Li Xiaolu, who triumphed with 90.0154 points in the duet technical routine in the morning session, beating their American and Malaysian rivals to second and third place respectively.

Sun/Li took their second title by winning the duet free routine with 91.8000 points, ahead of twin swimmers Jiang Wenwen and Jiang Tingting, fourth-place finishers at the 2008 Olympic Games.

"We practice everyday, and we gave it all in this competition," said Jiang Wenwen. "As the oldest Chinese synchronized swimmers, we are striving for victory. But the result is not the only thing that matters. We came back for the love of the sport."
