SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks finished higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 11.6 points, or 0.37 percent, to close at 3,137.88.
A total of 2.47 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 1.16 billion Singapore dollars (830.19 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered decliners 230 to 225.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended higher on Thursday.
Turnover increased to 2.64 billion shares valued at 2.24 billion ringgit Malaysia(508.92 million U.S. dollars), compared with 2.85 billion shares valued at 2.19 billion ringgit Malaysia(497.73 million U.S. dollars) on Wednesday.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 88.47 points on Thursday, down 0.65 points, or 0.73 percent, against the previous closing session.
A total of over 51.300 million shares worth some 497.887 billion Vietnamese dong (some 22.03 million U.S. dollars) were traded at the Hanoi Stock Exchange on Thursday, a decrease of 1.33 percent in volume and 6.91 percent in value against the previous closing session.

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed flat Thursday as an initial halt in the yen's appreciation against the U.S. dollar giving exporters a boost was offset in later trade.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 1.71 points, or 0.01 percent, from Wednesday to end at 18,430.49.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, edged up 1.39 points, or 0.09 percent, to finish the day at 1,472.81.
On the main section on Thursday, trading volume came to 1,841.06 million shares, dropping from Wednesday's volume of 1,952.91 million shares.
The total turnover on the penultimate trading day of the week totaled 2,159 billion yen (19.85 billion U.S. dollars).

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 712.66 points on Thursday, down 4.11 points, or 0.57 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session.
VN30-Index, the new benchmark index for the southern bourse, which tracks the 30 leading stocks by both market capitalization and liquidity, closed at 674.3 points, down 5.39 points, or 0.79 percent.
