Cambodian PM supports full probe into chemical weapon attack in Syria

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen said on Thursday that the country backed a thorough probe into a recent chemical weapon attack in Syria that killed over 70 people.

"Cambodia supports a full investigation of the incident before any action has been taken or any decision has been made," he said during a university graduation ceremony here.

Hun Sen's remarks came after chemical weapons were used to attack a rebel-held town in northwestern Syria on April 4.

The United States has blamed the Syrian government for the deadly poison gas attack and launched cruise missiles against a Syrian military airfield on April 7 in response.

However, the Syrian government has denied possession of chemical weapons. It said that its army struck an arm depot which belongs to the al-Qaida-linked Nusra Front, and the depot contained chemical materials that the terrorists were bringing in from Iraq. Endit
