Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday signed execution orders of 30 hardcore terrorists who were awarded death sentence by military courts, the military said.

"These terrorists were involved in committing heinous offenses relating to terrorism," an army statement said. (Pakistan-Army)

NEW DELHI -- India's environmental court National Green Tribunal (NGT) Wednesday ordered an immediate closure of all industries around Bellandur lake in southern state of Karnataka, officials said.

The lake situated in the city of Bengaluru is highly polluted. "The court said all the industries located in the vicinity of Bellandur lake discharging effluents are hereby directed to be closed," an official said. " As per directive, no industry will be permitted to operate unless inspection is conducted and analysis of effluent is found to be within the permissible limits." (India-Lake pollution)

MANILA -- New People's Army (NPA), the armed wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines, released on Wednesday two government soldiers abducted more than two months ago in southern Mindanao.

Maj. Gen. Rafael Valencia, commander of the Army's 10th Infantry Division, said the two soldiers were freed around 9 a.m. in Matanao town in Davao del Sur. (Philippines-Soldiers released)

KABUL -- Two senior police officials were killed and eight other personnel injured in two separate Afghan attacks, police said Wednesday.

In one incident, Taliban militants carried out an ambush on the convoy of Payanda Mohammad, executive official of an Afghan border police force battalion in northern Takhar province, killing him on the spot, provincial police spokesman Khalil Aser told Xinhua. (Afghanistan-Police) Endit
