The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Wednesday.

-- Zambian President Edgar Lungu has directed the ministry responsible for health to expeditiously implement a plan aimed at strengthening health care services.

Lungu said health authorities should implement the "Healthy City" concept by strengthening health services in line with community-based health services supported by a cohort of trained community personnel. (Zambia Daily Mail)

-- The Zambian government intends to make it a requirement for all contractual jobs to be subscribed to pension houses as it intensifies efforts to curb casualization of labor.

Minister of Labor and Social Security Joyce Nod said her ministry intends to have all fixed-term, long-term contracts and casual jobs subscribed to pension houses as a way to empower employees in the country. (Times of Zambia)

-- Zambian President Edgar Lungu has warned public workers to take the instructions that he issues seriously.
