Danish PM to meet Dutch, Irish counterparts over Brexit

Xinhua, April 18, 2017 Adjust font size:

Danish Primer Minister Lars Loekke Rasmussen will travel to The Hague where he will meet with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny to prepare Brexit negotiations.

"Denmark, the Netherlands and Ireland have many common interests in matters on the EU agenda. This applies not least in relation to Brexit, which will have implications for both the U.S. and the UK," Rasmussen said in a statement.

"So it makes sense that we jointly discuss how we secure our interests and get as amicable a divorce as possible so that the EU and the UK can continue to have a close relationship," the prime minister added.

Britain is Denmark's fourth largest export market. There are 2,400 Danish companies that export to Britain and 53,000 Danish jobs depend on such exports, according to the Danish news agency Ritzau. Endit
