At least five people were killed and two others were injured in a road accident in the Zhytomyr region of northern Ukraine, the police said Tuesday.

Two passenger cars collided head-on at 4:15 p.m. local time (1315 GMT) Monday on a road connecting the Ukrainian capital of Kiev and the western city of Kovel, the police said in a statement. (Ukraine-Accident)

MANILA -- At least 26 people were killed and more than 20 others injured after a passenger bus plunged into a deep ravine in northern Philippines on Tuesday, police and local media reports said.

Police said the bus, carrying more than 40 passengers, crashed around 11 a.m. local time in Capintalan village in Carranglan town in Nueva Ecjia province. (Philippines-Bus Crash)

WASHINGTON -- The International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Tuesday raised its forecast for global economic growth in 2017, saying buoyant financial markets and a long-awaited cyclical recovery in manufacturing and trade supported the improved outlook.

In its latest World Economic Outlook, the IMF forecast the global economy will grow by 3.5 percent in 2017, an acceleration from the 3.1 percent growth last year and an upgrade of 0.1 percentage points from its January projection. It kept the 2018 forecast for global economic growth unchanged at 3.6 percent. (U.S.-IMF Forecast)

PARIS -- Two men were arrested on Tuesday in Marseille on suspicions of preparing an "imminent, certain" attack on French soil, "in the coming days," French Interior Minister Matthias Fekl said.
