Rouhani lauds mighty military force as Iran marks army day

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani hailed the "might, sacrifice" and achievements of the army in the past few years as the country celebrated the national Army Day on Tuesday.
Addressing a ceremony to mark the event, Rouhani said that the Iranian armed forces have made considerable progress in the acquisition of the defensive technology over the past years.
He also referred to the delivery of the S-300 missile shield by Russia to Iran in the past year, saying that his administration is honored to equip the army with one of the important defensive machines.
To secure its territory, Iran will increase its deterrent power, he said, adding that Iran's neighbors should be assured that the defensive power of Iran is not a threat to them.
Different units of Iranian Army staged parades in the ceremony to show the latest Iranian military achievements, especially those in missile technology. Enditem
