Visiting United States Vice President Mike Pence and South Korean Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn agreed Monday to strengthen alliance of the two countries and take punitive actions on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

NEW DELHI -- Troops of India and Pakistan Monday exchanged heavy fire and targeted each other's positions on Line of Control (LoC), dividing Kashmir, officials said.
The two sides exchanged fire on LoC in Naushera sector of frontier Rajouri district, 222 km southwest of Srinagar city, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir. (India-Pakistan-Firing)

SEOUL -- South Korean prosecutors on Monday indicted former President Park Geun-hye, who has been impeached and arrested, on multiple corruption charges including bribery and abuse of power.
Park was accused of taking a total of 59.2 billion won (52 million U.S. dollars) in bribes both directly and indirectly from business conglomerates, called chaebol here, and their founding families. (South Korea-Park-Indictment)

YANGON -- A large number of Yangon residents have been crowding around pagodas since Monday morning, especially the sacred Shwedagon Pagoda, and were paying their respects to the Buddhha there.

ISLAMABAD -- Pakistani security forces have killed 108 terrorists in a major anti-terror operation launched in February, the military said on Monday.
