All-Chinese final set for men's doubles at Asian table tennis champs

Xinhua, April 15, 2017 Adjust font size:

China secured a men's doubles trophy at the Asian table tennis championships here on Saturday ahead of the evening's final.

The hosts' two pairs nipped easy wins to reach final as Fan Zhendong/Lin Gaoyuan beat Japanese Koki Niwa/Maharu Yoshimura 11-5, 11-9, 11-3 and Fang Bo/Zhou Yu won over Wong Chun Ting/Ho Kwan Kit of Hong Kong, China 11-3, 11-8, 11-5.

In prospective to an All-Chinese final, Fang Bo said he and Zhou Yu would do their best.

"Fan and Lin are better players than us, technically and tactically. We need to do a lot of homework to prepare well for the final," said Fang, adding that they played seven sets during training against the other pair and lost 7-0.

Both the Chinese pairs were partnered with each others on provincial bases as Fan Zhendong pairs with world No. 3 Xu Xin for the coming world championships late in May while Ma Long partners Timo Boll of Germany. Endit
