Tokyo stocks drop in morning tracking losses on Wall St. after U.S. bombing in Afghanistan

Tokyo stocks lost ground Friday morning tracking overnight losses on Wall Street after markets were spooked by the U.S. dropping its biggest-ever bomb in Afghanistan.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 62.16 points, or 0.34 percent, from Thursday to 18,364.68.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 7.42 points, or 0.51 percent, to 1,460.89.

Issues that notably retreated by the morning break comprised electric power and gas, mining, and oil and coal product-linked stocks. Endit
