The truck that a Tunisian terrorist used to plow through a Berlin Christmas market after killing its Polish driver has been transported to Szczecin, northwest Poland on Thursday, according to Polish Press Agency.
Polish investigators are to analyse traces left on the vehicle to verify the German findings. The analysis of the vehicle will take about two weeks, according to Aldona Lema of the Szczecin branch of the National Prosecutor's Office.
Polish investigators said earlier that the German side "handed over the evidence without the need of their return." They added that the truck was necessary in an investigation to determine the murderers of a Polish citizen.
On Dec. 19, 2016, Anis Amri, a Tunisian national, hijacked the truck as it waited to be unloaded. He then killed its Polish driver, Lukasz Urban, and used the truck to drive into the crowd at Christmas Market in Central Berlin. Twelve people died and over 50 were wounded in the attack.
Amri was shot dead by Italian police on Dec. 23 after a European-wide manhunt.
The body of the Polish trucker was brought back to Poland and buried on Dec. 30 in a state ceremony attended by President Andrzej Duda. Endit
