Singapore stocks close 0.53 percent lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 16.77 points, or 0.53 percent, to close at 3,169.24.

A total of 2.19 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 996.3 million Singapore dollars (713.89 million U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 315 to 158.

The STI index gained 11.26 points, or 0.35 percent, to close at 3,186.01 on Wednesday. Enditem
