Spain's consumer prices rise 2.3 pct in March

Spain's consumer prices rose by 2.3 percent in March when compared with the same month of a year earlier, according to data from the Consumer Price Index (CPI) published on Wednesday by Spain's Statistical Office (INE).

The figure coincides with the advanced data published by the INE at the end of March. The rate falls for the first time this year after stating at 3 percent in January and February.

Prices of transport rose by 6.5 percent in March year-on-year, those of items related to housing increased by 4.3 percent, those of food and non- alcoholic drinks rose by 1.4 percent while those of leisure and culture fell by 0.3 percent.

On a month-to-month basis, prices showed no variation from February to March, the INE reported. Endit
