Flamengo suffer injury setback ahead of all-Brazilian Copa Libertadores duel

Xinhua, April 11, 2017 Adjust font size:

Former Brazil international midfielder Romulo is set to miss Flamengo's Copa Libertadores clash with Brazilian rivals Atletico Paranaense on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old has not played since tearing a calf muscle last month but was expected to return for the Group D match at the Maracana stadium.

He trained separately from the main group on Monday and is unlikely to be named in coach Ze Ricardo's matchday squad.

Flamengo could also be without midfielder Everton, who took part in only light training on Monday due to an unknown muscle injury.

However the Rio de Janeiro giants were boosted by the return to training of Argentinian playmaker Conca, who is in the final phase of his recovery from a knee injury.

Flamengo are third in Group D of South America's top club competition with three points from two matches while Atletico Paranaense are second with four points. Endit
