Ukraine to deepen agricultural cooperation with Argentina

Xinhua, April 10, 2017 Adjust font size:

Ukraine is willing to explore new opportunities for agricultural cooperation with Argentina to transform the complementary advantages of the two economies into win-win results, Ukrainian Agriculture Ministry said Monday in a statement.

In particular, Ukraine wants to boost its farming exports to Argentina, which last year accounted for less than one percent of the bilateral agricultural trade, and to strengthen cooperation in agricultural technologies, the statement said.

For instance, Ukraine and Argentina have good opportunities for implementing joint projects in such areas as irrigation and production of agriculture equipment, it said.

"Argentina wants to export the agriculture equipment and its components to Ukraine, while we want to develop domestic production. Therefore, we see great opportunities for cooperation in this area, including a perspective of exports to the third countries," Olga Trofimtseva, Ukraine's deputy agriculture minister, was quoted as saying in the statement.

The agricultural trade turnover between Ukraine and Argentina has almost doubled last year to 53.9 million U.S. dollars. Endit
